“Creative Valor: Art for Life” A Therapeutic Art Initiative for Veterans Promoting Connection, Healing, and Resilience.

Mission Statement:

To use the power of creative expression to foster emotional healing, build community, and reduce the risk of suicide among veterans through accessible, veteran-centered art experiences.

Core Objectives:

  1. Reduce isolation — Create safe spaces for veterans to connect through shared creative activities.
  2. Encourage expression — Offer art as a healthy outlet for processing emotions and experiences.
  3. Promote resilience — Use creative skills to build self-efficacy, confidence, and hope.
  4. Connect to resources — Integrate suicide prevention education and mental health resources in a non-intrusive way.
  5. Honor service — Provide opportunities for veterans to tell their stories and preserve their legacy through art.

Evaluation & Impact Measurement:

  • Pre- and post-program surveys on loneliness, mood, and hopefulness.
  • Track attendance and retention rates.
  • Collect participant feedback and testimonials.
  • Monitor referrals to mental health services.
